Yes, unlimited hotspot plans offer truly unlimited mobile hotspot data. You will never run out of data on these plans. That said, there are two different types of unlimited hotspots in wireless plans:

To put that into perspective, T-Mobile's most expensive Experience Beyond plan offers 250GB of high-speed hotspot data for $100/month. US Mobile offers almost the same allotment for less than half the price.
Apart from the hotspot allotment, users also get unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data. US Mobile also offers access to all three major networks, but note that your hotspot allotment can change if you switch.
In our hands-on testing of US Mobile, we found that 4G and 5G speeds were consistently fast in more populated areas, topping out around 488Mbps near an AT&T 5G tower. For the fastest speeds—and to score the unlimited hotspot perk—we recommend users pick the AT&T network.

Here's what to seek out (and what to avoid) when shopping for the best unlimited mobile hotspot plan for you.
What to look for
- The premium mobile hotspot allowance.
Remember, there are no unlimited high-speed hotspots. Some offer a limited allotment of premium data, and then unlimited data at throttled speeds. How fast is a 5Mbps hotspot, and what can I actually do with it?
5Mbps is enough for the basics like web browsing, scrolling social media, music streaming, and SD video. What it won't handle well is HD video calls, large file downloads, or online gaming. To put it in perspective, Netflix only needs 3Mbps for SD streaming, so Visible's unlimited hotspot at 5Mbps covers most everyday tasks just fine.
How much hotspot data do I actually need per month?
Most people need less hotspot data than they think. Basic browsing and email use around 1GB per hour, SD video streaming uses roughly the same, and a video call on Zoom runs 1–2GB per hour.
